The new infrastructure will support research in ultra-precise metrology, including work on the realization of measurement units in the revised International System of Units (SI). This area is increasingly relevant to the development of quantum technologies and is an important part of the work carried out by national metrology institutes and European research consortia.
The planned experimental system will combine laser and photonic technologies with high-vacuum techniques and advanced cryogenic solutions. It will be designed for high-precision measurements of optical molecular resonances and efficient acquisition of measurement data.
The setup will also enable spectroscopic methods based on dispersive measurements. These methods are expected to improve the control of systematic measurement uncertainties, which remain one of the main limitations in ultra-precise metrology.
